Solar geysers:
Q : How many different sized geysers are available? A : Geysers are available in 100lt, 150lt, 200lt, and 250lt sizes. Q : What is a low pressure geyser? A : A low pressure geyser is currently only available in 100lt and is for use in areas where the water pressure does not exceed 1.3bar. It is designed for rural use where water pressure is derived from an elevated water tank via a borehole. Q : What is a high pressure geyser? A : High pressure geysers are used in residential areas serviced by municipalities and the two most popular types are either Split or Thermo-Siphon. Q : What is a Split geyser system? A : A split system is where the geyser is mounted in the roof replacing your existing geyser. Only the collectors are visible on the roof. Whilst this system is aesthetically pleasing it is less efficient due to a certain amount of heat loss occurring during transfer of water from collector to geyser in spite of insulated pipes. The split system is also more expensive because a circulating pump from collectors to geyser is required. Q : What is a Thermo-Siphon geyser system? A : A Thermo-Siphon geyser is fitted on the roof. Because the water circulates using convection, no additional parts are required. Q : Are the Evacuated Glass Tubes safe? What if they break? A : The tubes known as collectors are made from toughened glass and have been SABS tested to withstand up to golf ball sized hail stones. The tubes do not contain water and in the unlikely event of any one collector breaking there is no water loss and is easily replaced. Q : Will I have hot water in winter? A : Yes, all geysers are fitted with a small electrical element to heat water if the temperature drops below the pre-set temperature level. Q : Tell me more about the geyser A : With the exception of the 100l low pressure unit, all geysers are supplied by Kwikot. Q : Is there a Eskom rebate and is it applicable to all geysers? A : A Eskom rebate is available on the following models: 200lt Split, 150lt and 200lt Thermo-Siphon. The claim is submitted directly to Eskom. We supply all relevant documentation to ensure a successful rebate payment. Additional sizes and models will be added to the current list shortly. Q : Can my plumber do the installation? A : Installation should only be carried out by a Eskom preferred installer. Any plumber or installer not Eskom recognised, will not be able to issue the relevant Certificate of Compliance which must accompany any rebate claim. Q : Is there a warranty? A : Kwikot geysers carry a full 5 year warranty. The system carries a 12 month warranty but is extended to 5 years if our qualified and Eskom approved installation teams carry out the work. Q : Do I need extra batteries or PV panels to power my geyser? A : No, the solar geyser is completely self-contained and no additional items are required
